Kingdom 101

Good News to the Poor

One of my favorite Christmas songs is from Isaiah Chapter 9:6. “Unto us, a Child is born. Unto us, a son is given. And the government shall be upon His shoulder. And He will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.” We are talking about Jesus, born to take away our sins and redeem us from darkness into His marvelous light, but that was not all. He came to give us life abundantly, not just in heaven someday, but right here on earth. This is good news to the poor; it is healing for the brokenhearted, freedom for the captives, and rest for the weary; this is Salvation!

Salvation is a Complete Package

In her teaching “Healing is Yours,” Pastor Amy Freudiger provides an excellent example of what happens when we receive Salvation. Imagine God giving you a key (Salvation) to this huge mansion (His Kingdom) when you get saved. This mansion has numerous rooms, each with promises that are all yours. With the key in hand, you can step through the front door and into any room you wish. However, many people receive the key, enter the mansion, and remain in the foyer. They never explore other rooms; they stop at the entrance, satisfied that they are headed to heaven. Meanwhile, they are broke, sick, and discouraged. Friend, this is not God's will for you! He wants you to discover what the Kingdom has in store for you. If you are sick, unlock the room, called healing; if you are lacking, step into the room, called provision. The whole mansion is yours, a complete package, nothing missing, nothing broken.

What is the Kingdom?

I didn’t understand the Kingdom until I read the book “Your Financial Revolution, The Power of Allegiance. I found out that the Kingdom is a government with a King. This King is Jesus. When we receive Him as our Savior, we become a part of His Kingdom, citizens of His government. John 1:12 says, for all who received Him (Jesus), He gave them the right to become children of God. As a son and daughter of the Kingdom, you have the legal right to receive from your heavenly father just like a child receives from his natural daddy. You no longer need to beg for provision because you are now part of God’s family, living inside God’s “mansion,” where all things are possible and all promises are yes and amen!

“There can be no Kingdom of God in the world without the Kingdom of God in our hearts.” Albert Schweitzer

Experiencing the Kingdom

While salvation is available for those who believe and invite Jesus into their hearts, only some have accepted this gift. If you haven’t, please don’t feel condemned. There is still time for you to invite Jesus into your heart and be born again. You can become a son or daughter of the Kingdom, a co-heir with Jesus, and have every promise the King says you can have in His Kingdom. Matthew 6:33 says, “But seek first the Kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.” In other words, you have your part to play; the Kingdom does not come from heaven into your life by observation; seeking His Kingdom first is needed before we can enjoy “all these things.” You can begin the Kingdom experience today!
